Top 5 tips on balancing work and study in 2021

Incorporating study into your work schedule sounds like it would prove quite the task to juggle, but by implementing a plan of action into your weekly routine, you will find the right balance. We offer flexible course delivery modes to fit learning in with work.

All of our courses are available to be studied on campus, via our live online classroom, in a self paced format or a blended format. This makes it easy for you to build up your dream career while making sure all the bills are paid and you’re able to get some rest without burning out.

Here we discuss our top 5 tips to help you manage time and get your qualification with minimal stress.

Use a diary planner

Writing down an overview of the week ahead will give you a clear picture of what your schedule entails and an idea of the spare time you can utilise for study. Rather than just writing down

lists of tasks that need completion day to day, create time blocks for what you would like to accomplish. You can dedicate space in between each time block for a refresher or maybe even a reward!

Set up your space

A clear space creates a clear head space; so setting up a study area can be very productive to your learning. Keep it tidy, light your favourite candle, perhaps grab some healthy brain food for a snack, put on a playlist for concentration and make a start.

Utilise apps for study

Modern technology can bring much convenience and efficiency when used with intention and not for distraction. Start by setting time limits for apps so you can block out distractions while you study. Download a study tracker as an alternative to a diary, transfer google drive onto your phone so you can work on assignments while on the go and use reminder notifications as prompts for your tasks.

Schedule time to recharge

It is important to recognise when you need a break. If you feel tired it’s best to rest so you can conquer the next day’s tasks with higher energy. It’s all a work in progress, with good planning, you will make that deadline, and be sure to allow time for some fun too.

Review your week and set intentions for the next

Start journaling and take time to reflect on your day or week. Document how you’re feeling, what went really well and what didn’t go so well, then acknowledge this. Use this written reflection to set your intention for the week ahead and take action to accomplish this.
