#OranaConnect with Shannon Meddings from Style Machine

Our very own industry trainer and fashion creative extraordinaire, Shannon Meddings joined us for episode 5 of #OranaConnect.

Shannon has a wealth of experience in the fashion and creative industries. She’s worked with hundreds of everyday women, helping them find their authentic styles, she’s created editorials for Vogue and styled celebrities on television working with major networks and now she is also currently the fashion writer for @eat.live.escape!

#OranaConnect with Ashleigh Bruton from Digitas (ANZ)

For episode 4 of #OranaConnect, Ashleigh Bruton, the head of socials at Digitas (ANZ) joined us. She spoke us about her career and experience as one of the youngest power players of the Australian social media industry.

Ashleigh began her career in events, to talent management to then going over to strategy and more. She was nominated for for B&T’s 30 under 30 awards in 2019 while she was living in New York so this episode is a must watch for anyone who strives for global success in social media.

Hayley is the UX (Customer Experience) and UI (User Interface) Manager there and throughout her career, she’s interned and worked with companies including ASOS! For episode 2 of #OranaConnect, we had the honour of having Christina Taylor from Halation Agency join us.

Christina has been in the industry for decades and have a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of fashion wholesale and retail. Her company, Halation Agency is one of the most respected fashion agencies in Australia. Her roster of clients include big names such as Ginger & Smart, Quay Australia, Mossman and Morgan & Taylor as well as several beauty brands.

She spoke to us about her experience in business and in fashion, her thoughts on preparing for becoming a fashion professional and where the industry is at currently.

Social Media Marketing course launching in 2021

We are expanding our horizons and opening up new opportunities for our students in 2021 with the launch of a brand new course.

The 10118NAT Diploma of Social Media Marketing course is a comprehensive course on social media marketing, focusing on the areas of fashion, beauty and lifestyle. Orana is the only college in Australia to offer this course specialising in those areas, making this an Orana exclusive course.

This is the course for you if you love creating content for social media and want to do it for your favourite brands, or perhaps you want to become a social media influencer and want to know how to manage yourself as a business. The topics covered in this course includes analytics, search engine optimisation (SEO) to content creation and personal branding.

If you don’t know anything about social media, that’s okay – we will start with the basics and build your skill set up from there.

The Social Media Marketing course is a full time course completed over 12 months. You’ll also have the bonus option to take Fashion Masterclass Series subjects as well as receive support for industry internships throughout your course.

Much like our other courses, this course is designed to help you get your foot in the door in the industry. It will be taught by our industry expert trainers in an interactive classroom on campus and online.

We are so excited to be joined by Russ Ayles, a fashion HR & Recruitment specialist, for our Online Open Day on the 14th of April.

Russ is a passionate and people-focused Talent & HR Professional with experience within some of the UK & Australia’s biggest and well-known businesses. His experience is not limited to Fashion Retail but spans across various industries including Media, FMCG, Leisure & Tourism.

During his 15 years, he has worked in senior Talent and HR positions within ASOS.com, General Pants, Immediate Media (BBC), Britvic Softs Drinks, House of Fraser, Audley Travel and a also top Recruitment Agencies in London. He has seen and been a part of multiple recruitment processes from every angle you can be!

Utilising his experiences, Russ is now offering HR & Recruitment consultancy services to help people cut through the complexity of the application and interview process. Australian Fashion Highlight: Zimmermann

Known best for their sophisticated, feminine aesthetics, Zimmermann is one of Australia’s most loved luxury fashion brands.

Founded by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann back in 1991, the brand has continuously grown as a business over the last three decades. What began as a small business, designing then selling dresses at markets across Sydney, struck international fame with their swimwear.

The international attention Zimmermann got as a ‘swimwear brand’ then allowed the sisters to expand even more as a ready-to-wear fashion business, all the way to New York Fashion Week. They now have over 30 stores across the globe with an office in Pari which opened in 2019.
